Hi i was just wondering if anyone had any MSE ideas for table cloths, plates, cups etc for a little girls's 4th birthday party. There's going to be up to 20 children so want to try to get some bits cheap but they're quite expenseive.
Any help or ideas of where i can buy things would be fab.
Thanks
Charlie

Probably best trying a poundland or 90p shop wherever you are. They'll most probably have white ones, but you may be lucky and get coloured. I got pretty lilac spotty cups and plates for my daughters party in QD stores, they were cheap, but not as cheap as poundland.

When I was in asda this week they had a range of 'new year party' disposable tableware reduced to 35p per item napkins/tablecloth etc, they were a quite stylish floral black and white, but they did have other patterns I didn't look at so closely. Some reduced xmas stuff was also plain red.0

I agree with Meeps post above. I just had a party for my 4yr old daughter, and a baptism for my new born and all the plates, and napkins were picked up just before christmas when Waitrose reduced everything for the christmas stock. I only paid between 20p & 30p for packs of plain plates, and multicoloured and pink spotted napkins!
Was in there this week and all the christmas range was reduced, including ones with gingerbread men on them. I bought up some christmas party bags for next christmas.
Its always worth looking throughout the year for things like this, as they are often reduced after the summer picnic season, and in the new year.:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j0 -
Home Bargains get party stuff in. I've seen things like Power Rangers and Barbie party stuff in there, plus an assortment of plastic tat for party bags. Here I go again on my own....0

My friend has twins and at their parties the first thing you do is decorate your plate, cup & going home bag. Yes, she buys plain white plates, cups and tablecloths and brown bags (like for takeaways). She has lots of coloured pens and the children spend ages customising their own stuff. Whilst the kids are eating, the adults then fill the party bags and each one knows which is theirs. Very MS!0

In the same vein as decorating plates etc, how about getting your daughter (and other children if you have any) to decorate the table cloths too? You can usually get plain white paper tablecloths from poundland/99p stores. For a larger area like a tablecloth, something like poster paints and potato prints might be appropriate.
I would also look in pound shops for things like balloons, drinking straws (they sometimes have those very long ones, which are fun!), pens/paints for decorating and party bag toys & sweets.
Wilkinsons is also a good place to look for crafty bits, plastic toys and plates etc if you have one nearby.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
Most of those pre-packaged party bags are dreadful - I'd suggest making your own, maybe including a small pack of crayons, and some small toys and sweets (I know Tesco sell cheap party toys like yo-yos, cars etc). I'd also go for plain paper plates and get the kids to decorate their own.0

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm no where near a home bargins but will have a look in asda tomorrow. She wanted Disney Princess or barbie but i'll have a look round. We're off to soft play then buffet that i'm doing so i'm hoping to get some silver trays too! always hopefull!!!
I'm going to do my own party bags as i still have some stuff left from last year and we've recently had a pre packaged one and it was really poor. just going to try and pick something up each week, got 5 to do it in. WILL PLAN BETTER NEXT YEAR!!!!
Thank you :j0 -
I am currently looking into idea for my daughters 4th birthday in March. I managed to find invitations which we can print out on the computer and they have mickey theme, and then trying to see on ebay where the cheapest to get party bags and maybe napkins to match. I saw that sainsburys are selling party bags for 0.99 for 8. There was some reduced at our local allworths (similar to woolies) and I have figured out what is going in the party bags and trying to get the best deal. Good luck.
Previously I managed to get paper plates etc at B&M or poundland in barbie theme last year at reduced prices and pink napkins. Good luck.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46
