We got to Tunisia on Wednesday Morning, at Midnight we were told to pack be in reception at 7am. Bit of a joke no one there they arrived at 10am then told us to wait for the coach. It arrived at 3pm. We did see a riot in the street youths started to put tyres in the road and set fire to them we got to the airport and was last flight out last night to Manchester with Thomas Cook.
I feel that the should not have sent people out on Wednesday. They say they will refund ACCOMMODATION cost of unused accommodation. We had two days of a 14 day holiday all inclusive. I do not think they will refund much.
How do I stand, is it worth fighting for more compensation any one heard from Thomas Cook yet.

When did the advice change from the foreign office regarding travel there, my undertsanding is that all companies (and subsequent insurance claims) will be depended on that.Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!0

Thomas Cook canceled all there trips on the Wednesday before we arrived, There were demonstrations in the town on Wednesday and this has gone on for a month we should have been advised.0

Do you not read the news? As the FCO had not advised against travel at that point, TC were not wrong in allowing you to fly.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Were you and your fellow travellers given the option of NOT being made to leave Tunisia ?
I'd say it would be extremely interesting to be in a country when it's all going t!ts-up.
You can't beat a good street riot to get the adrenaline pumping and provided you were holed up in a nice hotel with plenty of grog and a good vantage point of all the shenanigans it would definitely beat reading Jeffrey Archer's latest " novel " on the beach or hunting around rubbish bins for a day-old copy of the Daily Heil.0 -
I feel sorry for you-dont be fobbed off 2 days is not a holiday, i really think you should be refunded for flights etc, i dont see why they can work it out as a percentage
for example holiday cost is £1400..you spent two days out of 14 so 1400-200=£1200 owed. (my logic though not sure if it applies!)
i would argue though lack of holiday quality- tbh is it a holiday when a night time curfew is applied, you cant go out for fear of getting involved in the riots and you are constantly worried about the situation?
id also query the fact that certain holiday companys are still selling holidays to tunisia for next week for example ... by selling you the holiday they have in fact felt it safe enough to send you havent they? so if they thought it was safe as travel authoritys -why shouldnt you?***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0
