There seems to be loads and loads of people talking about virus and spamware and what have you, so here is a quick tip that will stop a good lot of stuff coming down regardless of anti-whatever software you have.
Depending on your operating system there are different ways to do this but this is what you need to do.
Set up a user with a limited account - give them basically no rights to do anything
Create a shortcut to your internet browser of choice
Change the properties of the shortcut to run the shortcut as another user, and select the new user you made
Your done!
Each time you use that shortcut, you are running the program as a restricted user, so if a virus tries to do anything stupid, the OS won't let it because you need to have access rights to write files etc. 99.9% of the time doing this won't affect your browsings, but if it does, just click on your normal shortcut.
Hope that helps.

Agree with Garcia that Sandboxie is a better option by far.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

While Sandboxie is good for stopping things like tracking cookies and stuff like that, my method is more aimed at .exe files that execute themselves remotely.0
