Morning everyone
I have made possibly a mistake but only came to realise thisnow. I got a letter from LCS yesterday which was addressed to Owner/Occupierand had similar content to what people mention before in their posts – when youhave moved in, your contact number, email etc.
I don’t know why but since I got nothing outstanding anddebt free I have provided information via their website.
I then went online and started doing some research and Ifound that potentially they can start harass me and bully.
I am worried now and not sure if I called them and find outwhat it is about or just leave it until hear from them again?
Any advice greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance

Definitely don't phone them. Wait to see what they do. It's their job to explain to you why you owe them money0 -
i received a letter from LCS months ago saying i ower £60 to EDF from a previous address that i lived in, i phoned EDF straight away and was informed i owed nothing, the account was payed up and closed and that i should phone LCS and inform them of this.
I phone LCS who said they would contact EDF and that was that, haven't heard a thing for 6 months then today i've recieved another letter from them still chasing me for same debt!!! i'm on hold to edf currently but unsure what to do next??0 -

You could do what you should have done at the time - get EDF to send you a copy of the closing statement of account. Hard copy is the key here, not playing 'he says, she says' by phone.
You can also respond to LCS with a prove-it, whether or not you have anything from EDF. Remember LCS must prove that you owe something, not you prove that you don't.
I suspect EDF are the root of the problem here, giving false information to LCS. You should not be afraid of asking for compensation for the time you have wasted on this after it is over. I would think £60 is about the right sum.0 -
This evening I was greeted with a letter from LCS on behalf of Scottish power, for an address I have never lived at.
Like others I made the mistake of phoning LCS who would not listen but gave me a number to call Scotish Power.
Scottish Power then told me that I should ignore the invoice, "it will go away"
I have made a complaint to Scottish Power and got an auto reply saying I will have a reply within 72 hours.
How can these people get away with this?0 -
Hi Bones1978 if you forward your e-mail to onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com I can look into this for you. Thanks David“Official Company Representative

Thanks David, I have done so - forwarding my initial email and a few extra details that may be relevant or not.
I think not but it puts my name on the electoral register for a few years previously on a house just down the road in the same postcode from where this bill is for and I think LCS or Scottish Power have plucked my name along with possibly others on the basis of that.0 -
Well the guy who responded to me on here from Scottish Power was very helpful and speedy, and I would have left it at that.
However I have been further contacted by Scottish Power saying that is and end to the matter and if I still have a problem with being targeted to take it up with LCS as it is their problem entirely, LCS claim the opposite.
Both parties say the other is to blame, so I will leave this with the ombudsman to deal with.0 -
Bones1978 please leave this with me, as we instruct LCS so we can perfectly well tell them not to target you. They should act on our instruction. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks David“Official Company Representative

Hi,
I don't want to keep harking on about this as I know it's been quite covered already but wanted a bit of advice on our situation.
Me and my fianc! were living in a student house with two other people. We always paid all of our electricity and gas bills and have screenshots from our British Gas account and card statements to prove it.
We moved into the house in July 2011 and moved out 23rd March 2012 leaving the other two students in the house. I'm 99.99999% sure I rang the utilities companies as the accounts were in our name to change the accounts over to the two remaining students.
As it was a student house we had to have a guarantor which was the fianc!'s dad and we left no forwarding address.
So today fianc!'s Dad came round with letters from LCS stating that we owe them £350 for British Gas debts.
We checked our old online account and the amount they're saying we owe is the amount that's owed on the account but, only since we moved out so it was the other student's responsibility. Also it says the account is closed but doesn't when it was closed.
So technically the money is owed but not by us.
My worry is that BG didn't close the account but we can prove that we didn't live there then.
I wouldn't usually be concerned because I know how these companies work, hounding the weak for payment, but fianc!'s Dad is a real PITA about these sorts of things so the fact the letters are getting sent to him worries me.
I'll call BG on Monday but does everyone think we won't have to pay? Do I just call BG and leave it there or is it actually our fault even though we didn't live there because the money is owed on the account?
Thanks!0
