Can anybody help me. I am currently claiming DLA but have the opportunity to live in the Canary Islands for part of the year (during the winter months). Will I have to stop claiming my DLA whilst there and reclaim when I return to the UK?????

If you go abroad temporarily, eg for a holiday, you can continue to get DLA for up to 26 weeks

However if you are in receipt of other benefits such as ESA/IB/IS there may be other restrictions to take into account
Hope this helpsI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
If you decide to move permanently to an EU country, DLA care is exportable.0

I thought it was DLA mobility that is exportable but that there was a Court case trying to get DLA care exportable - I am not sure if there is a final outcome on that yet.0 -
DLA Care is exportable ... and why do NIDirect always have far better information than direct.gov?

So both components of DLA are now exportable.0 -
