People carrier challange- im clueless, help
Due to growing family need bigger car.
want a 7seater
not too high milage.
unsure on fuel /petrol is deiesil whichever works out most economical.
Not too high to insure.
some mod cons electric windows, locking, air con
largish boot space
stylish without feeling like a van,
Reliable
2nd hand price looking to spend 2000-3000
Does what I want exist even.
as both me and hubb y totally brand new to mpx market.
went to look at cars breifly last week.as had no idea whats differences.
The 5seats just seemed too small so want 7seater for more boot space to fit double buggy and hols and goive extra flexibility on seats as have 2kids one in booster, 1 in 2nd stage, baby on way april so need infant carrier and then there be ovelap with 2 2nd stage seats which are kind of bulky and wide.
the middle seat in zafira looked bit on narrow side for 3carseats and boot space small.
one we did seemed to like is the ford galaxy.
Anyone know difference in c max and galaxy.
due to budget probably opting for older model.
no one has good word to say about scenic but not actually seen.
Not seen the piccaso either.
Those were the obvious ones.
dad thrown in
mazda premecy into mix
kia people carrier
not convinced on either but they do seem cheap.
anyone had them.
Welcome any advice from mpv drivers as need to get this right as last cars cost us small fortune and dident research before we brought.
Hoping to pass test this year so I can drive it too.
Hubby hates people carriers but is our only option he accepts that so least ugly one, some mod cons and nice to drive.
Auto traders driving me mad and liklly we be part exchanging our bmw3series as well.

Take a look at some estate cars. You don't need 7 seats just 5. Estates will have a big enough boot. I agree with your OH that people carriers are vile. That's why we have had an estate for 10 years.
Something like this perhaps?

If you want the full 7 seater option, check out how much boot space is left if you raise the rearmost seats, on some models its non existent.
The best one i have used was a VW tranporter/caravelle,but that would be more van like then you probably want.˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ

Thanks everyone for input we have 2kids, 1 on way plus occasionally stepson too.
looked at 5seaters and not much boot space.
Looked at estates and not sure many be wide enough to take the 3carseats especially 2 2nd stage.
Voyager definatly out out of budget.
Not just on budget to purchase but dont want anything too expensive to run either .pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Can I just say that if you are not using the 2 extra seats in the Zafira then the boot space is huge... if the middle seat is too narrow for 3 child seats you could use one of the fold down seats for the 3rd child seat and still have a lots of space for pushchair ect as the other extra seat could remain folded into to floor..
I've had two Zafiras and find them so easy to drive, economical , versatile and cheap to maintain and very reliable .#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

You didn't mention him to start with.
You can't have a 7 seater with a big boot without going for the Grand Voyager as mentioned earlier or a van based vehicle.0 -
Unfortunately your budget isn't great for a 7 seater. Apart from the older Zafiras which you will find plenty of. The other drawback with your budget is you are likely to be in petrol territory and most petrol MPV's are not very economical which is not great with the way petrol prices are going at the moment.0

I think that we need to know exactly how much the OP's budget is.
She states £2/3000, does that include the BMW P/X?0 -
yes that includes bmw part ex at approx 700quid. could maybe push to 3500 including part exc.
Sorry forgot to mention stepson as rarly have him at moment and very rare we have whole family in car at same time so hes not major consideration.
But would be handy if we offered a freind a lift as we sometimes do and have kids in car so thinking 7seater be better than 5 , would be rare we would use all 7seats but least have that option.
I have found a few galaxys within our pricerange some diesil. but mostly old 2001 highish milage thats why dad suggested other barnds like kia or mazda.
will reloook at zafira seee as maybe each years version is slightly different just seemed quite narrow.
would rather buy something too big then get something too small as we change cars every 5years on average. Hubby does do highish milage for work but has 2nd car nissan micra for work as better on petrol by 50quid a week compared to bmw.
But it does not fit all the kids and was inherited from fil law. Its fabby condition but no central locking, power steering, doors on back small boot so wouldent get much if we sold it despite low milage. We better off keeping it and using it for work which means the mpv wont have high milage.
Last few years we done family hols in uk and been nightmare packing the boot hence why im obssed with boot space as will have double buggy, travel cot, suitcases, toys and other bits and peices.
At moment if we do big monthly shop we cant get all bags in boots so definatly need more space.
Approx milage a week not including hubbys commute would be less than 50miles per week maybe more when I start driving but dont go too far.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
