Has anyone ever slept at Manchester Airport

My flight from Manchester airport departs at 7.30am and I live four hours away.
I will not be able to sleep before I leave, so I thought about trying to arrive for about 2am and trying to get some kip at the airport.
How feasible is that?
I know they are open all night, but are they ok about you lying on the seats to sleep for a couple of hours.
I don't want to spend money on a hotel for just a couple of hours sleep.

If you are on a longish flight why not wait till you get on the plane? i had the same flight time recently and again couldnt sleep before so caught up on a few hours on plane then just grabbed a late lunch at hotel and crashed out till next day which worked.
if you feel you can sleep in an airport though -go ahead, personally im allways too hyper!***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
only problem i see is that there are hardly any chairs now where the check-in is. Arrivals isnt too bad but still not great'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0

Thanks for these replies folks.
I know I will panic if I do not have loads of time to spare so I will end up at the airport at some unearthly hour to ensure I am not late.
My alternative is to have a kip in the car just before I park it. There are only two of us in the car and it is a big car with lie back seats.
Not sure of the way to go.
I had also thought of booking into the nice lounge there. It is only £12 and you get complimentary food and drinks. However, it only opens at 5am. So no good there. Seems like a viable alternative if the flight was later though. It looks quite nice.0 -
Might be an idea to take an alarm clock with you and set it in plenty of time for the flight. Also, if sleeping in the airport, hang a bit of cardboard around you, or neaby, saying "please wake me at XX", that way you should not miss the flight, the alarm or other passengers should wake you up.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Sounds like an awful way to start a holiday.
Why not get a hotel for £30 and travel down the afternoon before your flight? Nothing to stop you going to bed at 8pm and if you can't sleep then at least you are comfortable in a bed with a TV to amuse you.
I'm all for saving a few quid but you got to stop somewhere.0 -

Agree - we almost always stay at a hotel the night before a morning flight...it just makes things that much more gentle, and feels like the holiday starts a night early.
The first time we did it was because we got a deal for parking + hotel that wasn't much more than what we had been quoted for parking alone.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
