Do you have any gold to sell? I know it's painful to sell those treasured earings or a necklace, but the price of gold right now is very high. Dont go to one of those CashForGold types, go to a jeweller or qualified merchant. You really need to find out what is happening with that Welcome Loan. They'll catch up to you eventually. Even if you just make an informal arrangement with yourself to put the money aside for the time when they do eventually find you.....Dont use Pawn shops, they are thieves and dont give you anywhere near what it's worth.

Cut your Gas and Electricity bills. Turn off absolutely everything unless you need it. Dont tumble dry, line dry. It's summer right now and we have about another month or two of decent weather. Water is high....any chance of a meter? You'll have to be careful here because you will only have 1 year to switch back again if it works out higher in the long run. I'd get rid of the landline too unless you are in a Sky contract. You dont need it, everyone you want to talk to has your mobile number.

It looks like you're running a Sky contract for the TV. How about Freeview? I know it's not ideal, but atleast it's free.

Try cutting your groceries a bit. I'm not sure you're figure is accurate anyway. It takes some dedication to keep it around the £150 mark even in the best of times and given the price of food. If I were you, I'd put that right under the microscope and see just what you're really spending. I know when I did, I found at least £80 a month, every month in unaccounted for spending.

I think it's easy to point fingers when stressful situations arise and one would assume you're not together now? if not then it's water under the bridge... if you are then I think you both need to sit down and work together as a couple and face up to exactly what needs to be cut down/out of your budget. Yes things are said in the heat of the moment, we as on lookers to people's situations only know what people tell us - perhaps you had just had an argument about the sky thing which is why she said it.

People in stressful situations do and say silly things because they are scared and looking for a way out - how about instead of dragging this up and slatting her talking about it and make it better for Sophia's sake :) xxx

when i first had to sign on i had to apply for a crisis loan until my money came through and they told me that anyone can apply for a crisis loan whether they are working or not..i wish that i had known this when i was working..they give you it the same day, its affordable repayments the amount you pay back weekly depends on your circumstances and they only loan what you really need to meet immediate living expenses.

go to the directgov website for further info

i wanted to post the link but i'm a new user so it wouldn't allow me to

Talk to each other face to face, don't just vent your worries on here at each other. You have a little girl who is your priority to care for.

Perhaps you could try keeping spending diaries - see exactly where every penny goes. It's easy to forget the bottle of milk and loaf of bread you pick up from the corner shop. That should help to identify spots where you can save more money to throw at your debts.
Maybe you could both agree to compromise on some things, a cheaper skyrate/ freeview box, cut back to a bottle of wine at the weekend etc?
Cutting back isn't fun, but try to think of the bigger picture, and the benefits debt-free life will bring (less stress, freedom, not worrying about the knock on the door).
I hope you manage to work things out x
