Replacing windowsill tiles?

As the title suggests i want to replace the windowsill tiles for 2 reasons!

1) Looks, they are old quarry tiles and not even particularly nice ones at that
2) They get very cold so i can not think they help with heat/condensation etc.

So how do you go about it, simply go over them with PVCu/wood or is it better to remove them totally?

I was thinking that if they were removed and the cavity exposed (that is filled) is it worth putting some kingspan offcuts into the the exposed bit of cavity before replacing with said wood/PVCu?

Firstly I'm not an expert!! but when we have our kitchen windows replaced later this year we plan to have the tiles from the windowsill removed and replaced with a PVC windowsill to match.

I wouldve thought that the cavity filling wouldve been covered with plaster when the rest of the wall was covered?

always remove the old ones first.
i prefer to use wood rather than pvc ones.
the cavities maybe open or closed off. you can backfill with insulation if you like, but itll depend on how deep they are!
    Get some gorm.
