Amazed I can't find a thread on OS about this, he is an OS idol:D
Please join Hugh's fight against blatant food waste.
Food is expensive & their are starving people in the world how can it ever be right to chuck it away:(
I'm going to make a huge effort to eat more fish. I def don't eat enough.
Do you eat lots of fish?
Do you cook any of Hugh's old fashioned fish like mackerel, I saw old fashioned because it has slipped well behind the very popular salmon, cod & tuna. When I was a child salmon was a very expensive & rare treat, along the lines of fillet steak.
I'm going to get line caught tuna from Sainsburys in future & I will look at the organic salmon instead of the farmed stuff (& just buy it less).
Has anyone been tempted to add more fish to their families diets?
What do you plan on trying?

We do eat quite a lot of fish and love mackeral! We also eat sardines, haddock (not cod) farmed salmon, and some of the more unusual ones like sea bass (when on offer etc).
But I was brought up in a port so we had a thriving fish market - took Mr K there one day, it was a Friday and he fancied mackrel. I told him he wouldnt get that on a Friday but he asked anyway and this lovely woman looked at him as if he had three heads and said " oh thats not a Friday fish!" he looked a bit sheepish then!
We also eat kippers, smoked haddock in pie and kedgeree etc, but it has crept up in cost over the years.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

I saw Jamie pasting a fish with curry paste before cooking, I think I will do that.
I liked the fish pie from the economy gastronomy book, so I might give that a whirl again.
I love prawns & scallops:D
I'm trying to think of new NON-FRIGHTENING things to do with a reluctant fish eater who needs a bit of a nudge:o0 -

My granny ALWAYS had fish on a Friday.

Sardines on toast, I haven't had that in years:p0 -
there was a thread a few days ago, I think it was moved to the Green and Ethical Board. I think it's good to have a thread here though, as I'm sure most people who read the G and E board are already aware of the issues. I wasn't aware of them till I saw the programme, which I only heard about because of the thread on OSweaving through the chaos...0 -
