    E.g. 4 XXX for £1 is now 3 XXX for £1. ;)
  • Poundland can cope with the extra 2.5% VAT. If effectively reduces their price (on standard rate items) from 85.1p to 83.3p. However, dollar stores in the US sell the same stuff for $1, or 63.0p (plus tax which is added at the till).
    If necessary they can reduce the pack sizes, buy in lower quality products, or increase their range of food (zero VAT).
