Good tips for taping up car bumper?

Hi, I've had a slight accident in my car. Some idiot went into the back of me when I stopped at a zebra crossing. They didn't hit me too hard, but the knock had damaged my bumper. My car is very old, so it's not a new style bumper. On the left hand side it's come a bit loose. I've got every intention of going to the garage as soon as I'm paid, but I'm hoping I might be able to tape it up until then. (The lights and everything are working.) If anyone had an tips I'd be grateful, as I can't really drive around with the bumper as it is. I don't have a nice man in my life who can help me sadly, but I'd really like to have a go myself. Thanks :-)

    Use some strong tape!

Do you think the bumper will need repainting? If not, be wary of using electrical tape, as it may strip the paint.

If they drove into you. You can claim off their insurance.
Look underneath to see if you can tie it back on, not to anything that gets hot, using wire or strong string. Gaffa tape will hold most things together, try poundland. It will look a mess and may possibly take some paint off but it should stay there.
  • i 2nd gafferr tape. worked wonders when oh drove down the motorway to southampton and noticed the bumper peeling back in the wing mirror, i played dumb about what id done to cause that to happen (only reveresed into our hedge)
  • Many thanks for the tips! I'll be buying some heavy duty tape today. I realise it won't look great but it's such an old car that it's not the most stylish vehicle on the road to begin with, lol.

Horrible driver didn't bother to stop, they drove off! I was very shocked at being bumped into and so only caught part of the reg number :-( With insurance excess I don't think it will be worth claiming sadly.

If you can get his details - inform the police and take out a private prosecution - these gits who drive off after accidents deserve whats coming to them...
If successful - it won't cost you a penny....
  • Duct tape and cables ties, the 2 best inventions ever made........(after the wheel ,beer, crisps, chips and HP sauce of course) lol
