    elstimpo, here is my update.
I turned my bulbs on for about 1 and half hour and they are not hot. I reckon it's about 35 degree or lower(I bath my new born baby everyday so I roughly can feel the temperature around 37degree :-) but I could be wrong). From my test, it's only warm and not as hot as halogen at all. I couldn't touch a halogen bulb even when it's only on for 10 mins. By the way, my room temperature is 20.5 right now.

I seriously wondered about the statement that any LEDs, even cheap ones, get hot and use excess energy. Hot air?

If they get hot then thats obviously could be wasted energy unless you class the hat as warmth for the room. Even the expensive ones appear to have some heat dispersion which begs the question are the also wasting energy? Leds run cool so I assume the heat is as a result another process

I still think many leds bulbs are rubbish compared with halogen and those that arent tend to be very expensive and will take you years under normal usage to gain any savings by then price may drop

Put in 5w led's (warm white) today in my hall and stairs

So far I am impressed by the light output (better than the 50W halogen it replaced), with the same / similar spread of light
    baldly going on...

They were Kosnic Power Led GU 10 - KLED05PWR/GU10

They have a 36 deg beam angle (similar to a normal lamp), and a rated life of 30,000 hours

The light rating is 60 lm/w and the colour is warm white

The manufacturer is out of stock until the start of August.

Hi, from your name I guess you are an electrician. so you must know the led bulbs very well. Myself bought 10 led bulbs from amazon which am very satisfied. My sister's shop is using around 30-40 50W halogen to display her products. She was very impressed by my bulbs. But the thing is, my bulbs' beam angle is 120 degree which is not suitable for her. She need the bulbs to highlight her products. Can you recommend some? I found this one has an angle of 36 degree. Could you please have a look?

    Thank you very much!
  • I tend not to buy stuff like this online (not in quantity anyway) as if I buy from my wholeasaler I get it cheaper - usually

In this instance I may suggest you buy 5 to see how they do.
This will let your sister see what they are like in real life
They look like the Kosnic 60w equivalents- I tried one and it didn't work

I have tried the 5w ones and have them in my house- early days, but I will post any issues
