Transferring from hard disc to cd/dvd???

Probably really easy for the techies but i'm pretty clueless.

I have two problems which i could do with some advice.

First when i stick the memory card into the laptop it brings photo's up using microsoft paint and that results in the image being huge and i have to move the screen sideways and up/down to view the photo. I haven't installed the cd that came with my camera yet so should i and then that would fix it?

Also i tranferred the photos from my memory card to the hard disc and it is taking up so much space on my hard disc so thought about putting them on a dvd. HOW??? I really am quite clueless so help would be appreciated.

Sorry one more thing, i wanted to put some photos on a website but they are bigger than the allowed 2MB each so how do i make them smaller?

Thanks

Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Have downloaded both, i entered the photos on the photo 3 and then saved to my dvd drive but when i went to my computer there was nothing on the disc?

Also downloaded the powertoy thing but it doesn't seem to be anything other tham a readme? I only downloaded the image resizer?

To use the resizer, right click on the picture in explorer, not sure what has happened with the photo story, did it appear to write to the disk, did you use a CD?

  • So i right click on the picture and then go to resize which makes the image smaller, what i want to do is make the image smaller i.e from 2.9MB to under 2mb in size so i can upload them on to a website is this possible?

It did write to the dvd but am i supposed to finish it somehow?

if the image is already compressed (.jpg), then you have 2 choices to reduce the files size, less colours, or smaller resolution (size)

  • I right click on the photo and then resize it and it cuts the size from 2.9MB to 41kb so that should be fine.

I used a dvd to try and save on but it didn't say i couldn't.

I'm also going to uplaoad photos to online photo companies. Will i need to reduce these also because obviously the quality on the original 2.9mb is better than the one at 41kb.

Is there a way of when i double click on a photo in the folder in my documents, it always uses microsoft paint and that results in the picture being huge i would like to permanently view them by the picture and fax viewer. If poss??

  • Yeah i am this stupid!! I didn't realise that there was a wizard that needed to be opened to actually write the files to a cd!! It won't let me do it so i need to buy some cd's and try again!

I want to upload some photos so will it be better to uplaod with maximum size for quality, and when i double click can that be rectified?

    Thanks
