Freecycle Mods

Vent board so Im venting! I am sick to death of some freecycle moderators acting far too big for thier boots. All of the members are very pleasent lovely people and I like being able to put my stuff on there for someone else to get some use out of and likewise recieving bits and bobs. Recently one of the members was made a moderator, although the main moderator has taken to calling himself the 'owner' of freecycle and now she is the 'co-owner' (which peeves me off but I think thats just me being a div). Anyway, shes so flippin rude! Not to me specifically but the posts she makes are rude and unneccesary. For example, if she offers something she then posts that it is taken but she always puts in capitals 'NO MORE EMAILS' Then heaven forbid some poor sod misses the taken post and emails her, she then puts - Despite me posting that this item has gone some people are still emailing me NO MORE EMAILS! - What a stupid jumped up little prat.

And breathe! Console yourself by thinking what small little lives they must have if being a moderator on a forum is so important to them that they have to blow it up into something so big and get worked up about it. I can see why it annoys you, but if you try seeing it all in a 'Keeping Up Appearances' kind of light, and you might be able to see the funny side of their self-importance...0

LOL!!! I am a mod too but I just see it as a way to help keep the spammers at bay and the board family friendly.0

Almost afraid to say that I also have the designation co-owner on Freecycle! Believe me the flack that the moderators take from Joe Public can be pretty unpleasant at time. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't!
However exasperated we get though there is no excuse for rudeness and if I post to my own list or respond to an offer I do so from a different user ID and email address so that no one knows that it is the list owner. My other co -owner does likewise.0 -
If only all the mods on freecycle were like you! Im at the point where she is peeving me off that much I can't be bothered with it anymore. The actual 'owner' is a 13 year old boy so there is no way I would ever send a rude message to either of them but I think he is rather clouded by her rudeness, ah well!0

Hmm. Sounds like one of the Board Guides on here....

I just dunno why a minority of mods feel the need to behave this way, gives us other mods a bad name! Its such a shame because they make a pleasent forum/group become unpleasent and I am totally put off that particular freecycle now.0

Have you considered Freegle instead? Freecycle itself as an organisation infuriated a lot of groups with their claimed inflexibility and attitudes at the top, which may filter through? In the uk, several hundred Freecycle groups quit and formed freegle instead, perhaps there is a group in your area?0
