CTC and WFTC to stop!?!?

Hi someone told me today that there was something on the news a few days ago about tax credits being stopped;

they thought it was either a new policy to give you a lump sum in cash if you went back to work rather than get tax credits or if all tax credits wouuld be stopping even if you are not working.

As a single dad who has been switched from income support to income based JSA by the gov CTC is the biggest part of income - if I lose this then I'm !!!!!!ed.

Any heard anything about this - I can find nothing about it on line rather than CTC being redulced if you earn 40K plus but that was from jun last year!

    There is a plan to replace tax credits (plus most benefits) with a new system called "universal credit", but that's years off and most people will get about the same anyway. Main exception will be those with savings >16k, as there'll be capital rules in UC where there aren't in tax credits - but there is transitional protection though not sure how that'll work yet.
  • thanks for the reply. so whilst on JSA should still get CTC ?

    Yes you should. You won't get WTC though.
