No just connected and set sharing. Is that the USB/Password method, I didn't think you could do that between XP & W7?

You can, bit of a clart with password protection/ public folder. thats how i finally got my xp,xp, vista, 7 network working properly. Think i had to do it all manually, wouldnt work with usb. Must admit took me days of running around house. Xp was much easier. Give it a name add to network voila!!!
This might be worth a try;
win 7 lap
View network computers and devices
Xp computer – double click
Your shared printer- right click- connect
If you cannot connect or print
Go to add a printer
Add a Local printer
Create a new port –Local Port
Name port
\\Comp\printer
Eg \\PJB \HPxXX
Install driver2017 WINS
