in Credit cards
I have had several cards in the past and thanks to the excellent advice on here and generally being tight fisted
have no cc debt.
The last card I got was an RBS One card which had a 0% interest rate until December and I paid it in full in November. Its still open but I wont use it. Ever.
Now I also have no other credit accounts at all everything is settled and I am lucky to have a reasonably good credit rating, but would that be affected if I was to close this card? I dont plan on opening anything else up for now anyway, but I appreciate it that things may change....:D
Thanks in advance

If it's your only card, keep it. And use it regularly, paying off in full each month. Otherwise you may find it hard to get further credit should you need it in the future.0

Thanks - should have said that I have a mortgage if that makes a difference. Yes the card is the only credit card, but do everything through the debit card...MFW 2011 No. 161 £946.54/£2000 TargetApril 9/15

Use the credit card if you can - you don't need to pay interest, but it shows you can handle credit. Used wisely, at the very least, you can keep your money in the bank for a month before paying off at the end of each month.
And at best, get yourself a cashback card and get paid to do you normal shopping.0 -
its good to keep just for online shopping or traveling0

You don't need to use the card regularly, make the odd purchase on there but don't go out of your way since you mentioned you are rigid with credit. If it is your only credit card, KEEP IT, you may need instant credit in the future, be it for emergencies such as boiler breaking down and having to wait for wage to come through as the card will give up to X amount of days to pay - depending on your billing cycle. Also purchases over £100 you are covered under section 75. I don't think I could ever go without a credit card.0
