Long time lurker, 1st time poster!!

I have been lurking around these boards for far too long now, thought it was time to say hello. So here goes.... Hello. Wow, it wasnt as hard as i thought ;)

My story basically is that I found this website just over a year ago when I was in debt by around the 30,000 mark!

I'm not even sure exactly how it happened, I guess I had just been ignoring my debts for quite some time, and living off credit cards, paying them off with loans, etc. All the time with my head firmly buried in the sand!
It wasnt until I found [STRIKE]Jesus[/STRIKE] Martin that I realised that I needed to do something about it and fast! I am 29 now, fast approaching 30 _pale_

I have taken alot of good advice from here and would like to thank everyone for that  I think that now I may be able to contribute back to what I think is the best website on the internet! :money:

Anyway thanks for reading...

p.s. I now owe roughly 18,000 so as my name says I am getting there slowly :j

    good for you :T

Trust me, as massive a debt as you think you may have, £18k is really a small hill rather than a mountain these days :j

  • Hey LittleL,

My main tip is rather boring really! It is just to keep track of everything you spend, I use a spreadsheet on Excel and literally put everything that i spend on it...

I shudder to think about the times I used to go out and buy a shirt for £90 and a pair of jeans for £60 just cos I was going out that night!

Thankyou Martin, you have saved me!!! :A
  • Oh and claiming back charges. Anyone who hasnt done that yet, do it NOW!

I must be one of the few left on here who hasnt claimed back my charges.

I'm on a DMP and trying to clear my debt with the bank before I go for it :o
