Note that if you use your insurance to pay for this it will be go on your record as a claim and you will have to declare it should you change insurers.

Indeed, if it is repairable, it should take about 30 minutes.

Beware they will no doubt try to flog you new wiper blades at some outrageous amount of money.:)

There is a risk when doing a chip repair. They "flex" the chip so that the resin will fill all the cracks. Sometimes this results in a cracked screen that isn't repairable and must be replaced. They should inform you of the risk beforehand though.

If you want to avoid the "claim" on your record, I'd advise using:

I used it before on a windscreen chip for a car I didn't have windscreen cover on. Just over a tenner, and it worked very well. Obviously it's not quite as good as a professional repair, but it's safe (virtually no risk of screen cracking while you do it) and keeps water out of the chip. Most importantly, it'll pass the MoT.

They told me a chip in my windscreen needed repairing to pass the MoT. I asked my MoT station and they said it didn't.;)

I had my windscreen chip repaired outside the local homebase a couple of years ago. All I needed was my proof of fully comp so I didn't have to pay.

Insurance renewal came around and although it showed a 'claim' for windscreen repair, it didn't make any difference to my insurance premium.

They drilled a small hole, filled with resin and done.

About 30 minutes, while I was in Homebase.

Some insurance companies now charge for chip repairs. So check your paperwork to see if your
    repair will be free.
