Hi All

hopefully I've placed this in the correct forum, please feel free to move it accordingly if incorrect?

Can anyone advise, the best / easiest option to view a programme on ITV player with my television / or place onto a Sky + box?

I seem to remember that I was able (a long time ago) to connect a laptop to the tv via red, yellow & white connectors but the laptop I now have does not have this option?

Any ideas at all?

Thanks in advance

If your laptop has a DVI connector you can get cables with DVI one end and HDMI the other. I'm pretty sure that if you take that route you'd also need to run an audio cable but somebody (or google) may know better.

ITV Player is coming to FreeSat some time. It's already available in beta on Humax satellite boxes.
  • What type of TV do you have and what video input connections has it got? What about your PC/Laptop what video output connections does it have? It sounds like the older Laptop had Composite Video/Left/Right Audio output options which are the most compatible, especially with older CRT TV's, but the poorest quality of all video input/output options.

I don't know whether ITVPlayer uses Digital Rights Management like the BBC does, I suspect that it does and if so you won't be able to easily convert it to any other format.

So you would need to either use a PC/Laptop connected to your TV, a Home Theatre PC (HTPC) or possibly but unlikely a Media Player/Streamer standalone which supports ITV player.

For info the PS3 now supports iPlayer, 4OD and ITV Player. AFAIK this is the only non HTPC option for playing ITV Player

Almillar, Good shout. ITV Player on freesat was first announced Nov 09 and has has been so long coming I'd forgotten it!

Care to share how you're participating in open testing? Page 903 shows Itv player arriving soon, but no content. I also couldn't see anything from a quick google search.

    Thanks

Yep - it's not there yet. Goto channel 999, the freesat info channel. Press green, green, blue, green, green, the launch page should come up, then you press red.

From what I've read though it's only working on Humax boxes and just hangs on "Loading" with others.

When I tried it I wasn't impressed by the quality either it looked a little better than the iPlayer standard but down on the iPlayer higher quality stream.

Beggars can't be choosers though I guess and if you miss something it's better than nowt.
