Hi
I have finally bitten the bullet and set up a wireless router/modem (supplied by my ISP)

Desktop PC is connected to the new wireless router/modem by a cable and is working fine, daughter's laptop now connects wirelessly, also working fine, Wii, connected wirelessly, working fine.

My problem is another, older, laptop that I have, it says that it is connected to the wireless network, but when I launch Internet Explorer (8) it just says its connecting and then nothing happens........ I was trying for hours last night......
IE8 used to work fine when I plugged it into the old USB broadband modem, no problems.

Any ideas on what the problem/solution might be please?
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

No, was 'always dial default connection' :o

I've changed it now to 'never dial a connection', problem appears to be solved! :j

    :TThank you so much

    Such a simple thing..... :o

    Glad you got it sorted
Should be set to never dial then go into lan settings and check to make sure that Auto detect settings is selected

should work without auto detect, which can slow IE startup down

It would have still been set to use the old adsl dial up before, hence the need to change it, router connections are always on.
