Hello,
I am currently running the free version of Zone Alarm, a friend has mentioned that their version was having problems and they now run the windows xp firewall instead. My computer has been really slow lately and I thought ZA might have something to do with it. Is the windows firewall reliable? Thanks

Use ZoneAlarm every time!
The Windows firewall only blocks incoming traffic not outgoing traffic. Plus, it has a tendency to quite happily let Microsoft products phone home unchallenged. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

What is the difference between software firewalls and hardware firewall?
I have a wireless 3com adsl/router with built-in firewall (before that I had Zone Alarm) but I don't understand how it is setup/works?0 -
with my netgear router the firewall allows me to block sites, log sites visited and several other things0

software firewalls protect your computer, and hardware firewalls protect every computer on your network

most of the time
I'm behind a Linksys router with firewall enabled and yet ZoneAlarm still reports intrusion attempts.
The more defences the merrier I say
