Hi All,
Please bear with me as I am not really a techie!!
I have just upgraded to IE7. I ran AVG anti-spyware due to some malware problems (mate helped me)!!
I now find that when I try to access some web sites it come up with an error.
" Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems
More information
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
For offline users
You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds
Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.
To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)
Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view."
Connection is fine as I can access other sites. Moneysaving is one site that brings up this error message.
Is there anything I can do??
Thanks in advance

Over the last 4 days I have also been having this message appear! It's so annoying! I also find that it is quite random i.e I can be surfing quite happily then 'boom' I have tried 'tweaking' the settings on Tools>Internet Options to no avail. I was even considering removing the McAfee AV bundle that came with my sky broadband as I thought that was the problem but now you have the same problem it appears to be IE 7...sorry I can't help, but you're not the only one (if that is any consolation!)0

I know this doesn't help you but I used IE7 when it was out as a beta release and it was awful. I got this error all the time and many other sites do not display correctly.
I got rid of it eventually and reverted back to IE6 and there I will stay until all the bugs are ironed out.0 -
Thanks Jockthearab.
Anyone had any success in overcoming the problem?
I have also tried to 'tweak' settings but to no avail!!0 -
Has your firewall let IE7 have access?0
-
Hi Spacker,
How do I check/do that?0 -
Don't think that will be your issue to due you having access to some sites.
If you firewall wasn't set up to allow IE7 access you wouldn't be able to view any web page.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
What is your ISP - mine had DNS issues recently which really caused me issues, one night i couldn't get to many sites at all.
DNS is what you use to translate a name into an IP address to find the servers.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
Hi Woo,
Im with telewest broadband0 -
think your service status page is http://www.telewest.co.uk/mytelewest/status/index.jsp that might indicate if they have any issues.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0
