No luck with part-time jobs

I'm 17 and am in full time education, hence, the reason why i'm looking for a part time job. I've applied for the usual supermarket stores such as Sainsbury's and Icelands but have got no response, just that they'll let me know if somehting comes up.
Can anyone reccomend something? I can only do weekends and Thursdays, preferably wednesdays but only after 1pm. I really need soem cash for driving lessons, more importantly to get some cash and get an insight into the real world rather than sitting at home or going out all day.
Any feedback on Jobcentres?Agencies?
Cheers,

My DD2 works at Macdonalds. Does the hours she wants to do and extra if she can. The pay is good and you get a free meal if you work 4 hours in a row. She thinks its good to have money she can spend on what she want while she is still studying. Hope this helps Lazymoezy. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile

My local Sains is recruiting for Christmas staff so I would have thought yours would be too... maybe a follow-up call may remind them that you're still available?

Thanks for the replies. Will have to remind them again, also, doing my CV up again as there's always stuff to add.
Won't do myself justice working at McDonald's, can see myself a month later about 2 stones heavier:o . Then again it's the money which I need.
Thanks,

When I went on a pre-redundancy course they told us that many jobs were not advertised and went to friends/ relatives/ neighbours etc of existing employees.
Have you told *everyone* you know that you are looking for work? Someone will know someone who can offer you a job.0 -
hand out cvs down every highstreet possible - both times ive job hunted (part time jobs) handed out over 50cvs only heard back from a few of them (wasnt at xmas though)
also some places will only do things through recruitment numbers, have a look for posters outside shops if they have a number dont waste the papaer giving them a CV theyll bin it - ring upYes Your Dukeiness

Believe me once you have worked there for a week you won't want to eat the food anymore. Thats what has happened to my DD.When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile

Have a look at the online job centre listings, my nephew managed to find part-time work to suit his college hours:

DS1 used to work at the local cinema when he was in the 6th form and that was an EXCELLENT job! It's a small cinema rather than a multi-screen so he used to be able to read / do his homework when they were quiet! Also got two free cinema passes each week, if he cared to use them.Signature removed for peace of mind0
