Your grocery bill is rather high. I feed 3 adults on £200 p/m. Try buying only shop own brands, or audit your cupboards, fridge and freezer, then create meal plans to use-up your current food stock.

If you have any vegetables that are a bit wilted, use them to make batches of soup (these can be frozen for future use).

If your WTC forms keep going astray, try getting them sent to your dad's house.

Also, try approaching your local Council to see if you qualify for help towards your rent. I believe there are guidelines regarding how much you should have spare after paying your rent and council tax.

Try Freecycle for baby/toddler clothes. Charity shops also have a good range of clothing for children and adults.

How close to the nursery do you live?, can your spouse not walk the child to/from the nursery?.

You are so close to being solvent, it would be a shame if you couldn't hang-on long enough to get WTC & CTC set-up.

  • Groceries look more or less ok from a br perspective. As pat man says there's some room to manoeuvre in terms of your actual spend.

Good on you about the OT etc. You need to look after yourself first. :T

Sorry i forgot to mention i also have 89K worth of debt hence going through with the BR.

Thanks for the advice patman, we have actually managed on about £200 this month but it has been all home brand and prefrozen meat which is acceptable for the likes of cheap curries... luckily my wife used to be a factory worker so she has a factory shop card which has some very good offers in which has really helped us this far.

So far no real complaints about my proposed SOA which must be a good sign :)
