Travelling abroad with a baby, advice please

We are planning to travel to Spain for my dad's 60th birthday in April and our daughter will be 5 months old. Can anyone advise me on the best way to feed our daughter while we're there, we're staying in a hotel so there will be no kettle to make up formula or sterilise bottles, how have others got round this? Also, we bought a travel cot to take with us but it's really heavy and DD doesn't get a baggage allowance, are cots provided in hotels generally good? What about taking a buggy/pram with us, would we have to pay extra on the flight to take this or can is be part of your baggage allowance if it's within the allowed weight?

Is there any other advice anyone can offer me, I find going to the shops stressful atm so god knows how I will cope abroad

when my daughter was 8 months we went to austria, first thing i did was get in touch with hotel and request a cot most places have them and are happy to supply, another thing to check is airline as some carry a travel cot and buggy free and not part of luggage allowance.the cot was perfectly fine although i would advise taking own cot bedding.

as for bottles you can get a cold steriliser kit it is a big bag with milton tablets,i was able to get a kettle off hotel for the room normally they hire out but as it was for baby they gave it free for the stay.
  • We were in the same position having twins of 6 months and also a boy of 18 months when we first took them abroad.

Most hotels are very good when you explain the situation and we always got kettles and good travel cots although the advice to take you own bedding is good.

Most airlines we travelled with at the time allowed us to take the double buggie with no extra cost.

As i say if you ask the hotel/airline they are normally pretty good

A largish tupperware box (which can fit in a suitcase and be filled with baby clothes) and Milton tablets will do for sterilising - an alternative are large sealable freezer bags and Milton tablets.

Never had a problem with cots in hotels, but take your own sheet. Pushchair doesn't count as luggage.
  • Take a travel kettle with you for your feeds and use Milton tablets for sterilising. Make sure you use bottled water for feeds, tap water is ok for sterilising though.

I have used cots on hotels before and they have been fine but take your own bedcothes.

You can take your buggy on as well as your luggage for no extra cost.
