I was wondering if anybody could help me out.
We have a contents insurance withn Zurich Insurance. We have had it for around 9 months and recently they wrote to me saying that my bankhad cancelled the direct debit. I contacted the bank who said that they had no idea about this and that the debit was in place as normal to come out on the 22nd as usual.
Since then I have no end of problems with Zurich. They said they had set up a new direct debit, the bank say they have recieved no such instruction. They tell me they will call back and I have not recieved a call from them yet.
Then I got a letter on saturday saying that they have cancelled my policy!
I just contacted them and the chap at the indian call centre told me that he could not give me any information as it was a sunday and that the people only answer the phones on a Sunday?...seemed quite ridiculous to me...
As my policy is for 12 months, and I am only 9 months in and they appear to have cancelled my policy, am i liable for the remaining three months with them? I've had quite enough of the whole incident and if the opportunity is there to jump ship to another insurer without financial implication, then Isee it as the right way to go.
Glad I never had to make a claim with them!

I have been getting quotes for my building & contents insurance, and was about to change to Zurich.
I don't think I will now - cheers.
Hope you get your issue resolved.0 -
As you now have to declare that you have had an insurance policy cancelled for non-payment (to your home, motor, travel etc etc) there will certainly be large financial implications - obviously if you dont declare it and the insurers check you the will also have to declare you have had 1 policy cancelled for non-payment and a second one cancelled for fraud (and probably also tell your mortgage/ credit card/ loan issuers that you have a fraud registery entry)
Personally would sort it out properly with ZurichAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

best to check their website for there phone number..because it might be a scam..
explain the whole situation..that you recieved a letter saying that the DD has been cancelled.but you contacted your bank and they say..everything is o.k and go over with them the account number and details..and say, WHO cancelled the DD..

I managed to speak to someone today and have a little more information. I have actually had the policy for a year on August 1st. I think they tried to renew the policy, I'm not sure, but thats around when the problems started.
I asked the advisor if i was in any sort of contract with them and he said no. But as the last communication I had with them was them cancelling my policy, should I seek some kind of written confirmation from Zurich. I certainly don't want any kind of repercussions in the future or any blemishes on my credit scoring.0
