Thinking of buying the missus a Beetle as a suprise pressie.
Only looking spending max of 4k if possible...which engine is the best / most reliable?

New shape? Hatch or convertible? We had a 1.6 cabrio for a couple of years and it was fine, reliable and reasonably economical, but could have done with a bit more power. I'd avoid the 1.4 at any price personally and if buying again, would go for either the 1.8turbo or the 2.0 petrol...0
