Need a loan of £500 short term

OK first things first, don't worry about the charges. Call them now and speak to someone in the collections centre, tell them that you're paying £1 per month whilst you seek the advice of a debt management charity and that you will contact them again once you have a breakdown of your income and expenditure. The branch won't be able to help. The most important thing is getting the bills paid and food for the kids, might have to be a lean month but they won't go hungry. How old are they?
You need to go on http://www.makesenseofcards.co.uk/soacalc.html and complete the SOA. Get it posted on here and get a copy to Santander ASAP. Take it to a branch if you have to and they will fax it to head office for you. Try not to worry too much, if you don't pay the charges there's not much they can do, certainly in the short term. Your credit rating will be shot but if you're incurring that many charges then it probably is already. Once you've done to SOA we can give you some more definite advice. Good luck.Getting married 02.08.14

When is your next income or benefits due into that bank account?
What you need to do is forget about santander for the moment and focus on opening up a new account with a different bank and getting any income paid into that account.
As the-insider says above just send santander a letter and offer them £1 a month - template here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=21937969&postcount=50
What are the bills of £135? who to? you can mostly defer bills for a month if you need (or at least a part of them).
So then you only need to focus on food and petrol. Still be worth seeing what you have that you can sell. Do you have any clubcard points or similar or gift vouchers you could use to put towards food costs?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Just rummaged throught ive got £11 in boots points so will pick up the baby some milk in town, I've got £10 in tesco vouchers, so will stock up on bread and milk worst comes to it we'll live on beans on toast the rest of the month. DD's get lunch 3 times a week at nursery so she will be getting some good wholesome stuff into her.
next tax credits/child beneit hit the account wednesday but go straight out again. Will be last friday of the month I get paid from work so 2 weeks from today.
tried the bank again as i got confused (MH) but they've already set it up now so said they cant change it...
I think we'll be ok we always manage, i think its just come to a head this month.

£100 to a debt management plan? - phone up your DMP provider, say you have had financial problems this month and can you just pay token payments to your creditors please. They should allow this on an odd occasion.
Why is the vanquis card not part of the DMP?
Who is running your DMP? is it someone charging a monthly fee or one of the charities running it for free?
You might need to do a 'first right of appropriation' to the bank so that they don't take your tax credits and child benefits to pay off their own charges. This is a letter you give them in advance to tell them that you need these benefits for priority items.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
You said Santander screwed you over, what did they do? Is that something that can be sorted out straight away and the charges be removed?0

Am I missing something cos when I looked at the provident site it gives £500 borrowed for 52 weeks at a repayment of £910.00 and not £800.00There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I've tried but the people i've spoken to don't seem to know what is going on either, it would probably help if i spoke to someone english.
They've take aload of charges, but I don't know why my bank account hasnt been overdrawn since November, now there was enough money in the account to pay the bills etc.. but because they've taken charges out on the same day as the bills were due which i've not been told about. they've no put me £125 overdrawn charged me £90 and are charging me £15 a day for being overdrawn.
I'm going to try again with someone on Monday, ive applied for a new bank account elsewhere.Had my amazing little girlie 08/12/2007 - 11 days late! 9lbs 3oz

Presumably you have access to online banking to manage your account? What does that show? Do you normally pay bank charges?
Have you got someone who could come into the bank with you to talk to them? I really think you should involve your social worker, he/she should be able to help you to talk to the bank and to work out what is going on. That's what they are there for and I suspect that you won't be the only family to have got yourself into difficulties over the Christmas period.
Either you've incurred the charges and they are correct or you haven't, so it shouldn't be a difficult issue to establish with them but you do need to hold your temper with them and listen to what they have to say.
You've had good advice re food etc, on the OS board so hopefully you can cope. Of course the problem with taking a further load is that you'll have to pay that on top of your existing outgoings. If you can't cope now, how will you meet another commitment?
Time for an updated SOA so the guys here can give you some advice. Plus stay away from the Grabbit board, things might be cheap but not if they cost you £200 in bank charges!Piglet
