I got a PCN prior to Christmas and, on a side road leading into a small estate. Prior to leaving my parked car I checked the area (parking advisory signs etc) No signs however, there were the remains of a single yellow line which was in a very dilapidated condition.
4 minutes later (with bag of chips in hand), I have aquired a PCN:j
I took lots of pics and have appealed against this PCN. I have received a reply from Salford council who, incidentally are in financial dire straits, and they have over-ruled my appeal. They now require me to pay the full price of the PCN (£70.00).
Does anyone know the exact rules pertaining to a PCN issued when there is no evidence of any signage and, almost non-existant yellow lines? The opposite side of the road had a sign "no parking 4pm - 6pm" and a new single yellow line. Does this particular signage apply to both sides of the road (I was under the impression that both sides of the road had to have the required signage.

Register and post this on pepipoo.com. Its rare for a council to accept the informal appeal as they really only want you to give up and pay.
Get pics of lines and check if you are in a CPZ as the lines would not need to be signed unless its different times to the CPZ. Copy the pcn, both sides, remove personal bits and leave dates and times. Host on tinypic and add to your post.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Pepipoo forum link here, this is the board you need to post on:

Firstly red the FAQs and stickies, and browse some other recent threads to see what sort of detail to post and how to attach pics of the PCN front & back. Then register and post with your pics.
MOST people get off PCNs with pepipoo help, but being turned down at the informal appeal stage is 'normal'. It means nothing, doesn't mean you haven't got a case. Do post on pepipoo and take their advice on your ticket, all you risk by appealing all the way to the adjudicator is possibly having to pay the full (non-discounted) fine. But most people win or the Council doesn't defend at that stage.
The odds are more in your favour than you think. Good luck.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I know parts of Salford reasonably well.
On which road (and which side of it) was the contravention alleged to have occurred?0
