No completely wrong you must pay it off in full to avoid interest and always pay it off in full every month and use it as a cash management tool. Never use the credit card for cash that's evil on both interest and charges. What would you need cash for anyway? Anything you "need" to purchase can always be put on as a purchase. You can use it again straight away but paying off in full will always cost you nothing. So pay the full £463 off the card (I'd do it now/tomorrow so you aren't tempted to spend it elsewhere)...you'll have no money so use it for purchases but less and less each month till you don't need it any more.

ohhh thats how i'll do it i will pay the whole balance off , then i will end up with £153 in my bank account that has to last me a month really so if you spend some money so no interest gets added to your balance..

so for eg.. i spend £40 next month and b/c send me a statement so i don't pay ANY interest on that , i get paid tomorrow so i'll clear my balance tomorrow , thanks for the advice..

HappyMJ is quite right - if you can, pay off the credit card in full and then spend on it again (but don't take out cash).

I suggest you put all the things you want in order of priority and then see how far down the list you can go and what has to be left out.

How did hairdressers manage to persuade people they are necessary? Longish hair can easily be tidied with a sharp pair of scissors.

If you must have a haircut, can you get a dry cut or a wet cut without the blow dry? I can get this done at my hairdressers for around half the price of a cut and blow, the blow dry is not essential the cut is, so I end up paying around £12 for just the cut and then I can dry/style it myself when I get home. This is what I do when I'm skint but still need a hair cut, although I pay for the blow dry when I can afford it.

    Hey all...Heres the low-down:

Get paid tomorrow - Clear my credit card - Will end up will £156 for the month:

My monthly out-goings are , mobile phone , going out , food , haircut , return money to who i owed rent ( but i can talk my mum out of paying rent )

The advice is how can i survive on a low budget ?

Will end up with £38 surplus without paying rent i havent even included food :mad:

    Need help

Sorry to say this, but this thread has made me really cross!! you don't NEED to go out, you don't NEED a haircut, etc., and why should your mum not get paid the rent which you must have agreed to pay???
NEEDS seem to be getting muddled with WANTS. If you don't go out you won't feel so bad in the mornings and can make yourself that sandwich instead of buying one, and why is it sooooo much hassle to sell something you don't need??

Give my credit card and my debit card to her hmm she has told me countless number of times , but i said no i want my independence , no but sometimes im out i could make a sandwhich im like half dead in the morning and i have to make a sandwhich ..

however i could save alot of money

You obviously cant handle independence if you are getting yourself into this mess! Ive been there myself, and Im not some fuddy duddy telling you to grow up, Im only 24 and have a wealth of experience with your attitude - because I thought just like that. Take it from me, youre heading down a slippery slope. If you are regarding haircuts and going out higher and more important than paying your rent and eating, then you have a really warped sense of priority! And little respect for your mum!

I dont mean that in a disrespectful way, but take it from me, it wont be long until your £10k and debt and have to deal with debt collection agencies.

Pay off the credit card, cut the damned thing up, pay your mum her rent and have a quite month with a few split ends.

I paid £400 last month and had and spent over £200 on a bag and a few jumpers :(

Had like £192 to pay of this month but spent it and my balance has grown more

    I really need to stop

personally rent is more important than a bag and jumpers! You knew you were spending money you didnt have so how would you cope if you didnt live with mummy? If you spent your rent on clothes you'd be living in a box as landlords do not take kindly to being told you aint got their rent.

Id give your mum the rent first and foremost and then sort the rest out yourself then you will learn the true importance of money and that may stop you spending money you dont have.

Not meaning to be mean but you gotta learn value and priority at some point. If your old enough to get credit your old enough to learn money management.

i would try not to go out this month and try to stretch not getting your haircut to next month. if it's long experiment with different up-do's, messy buns, ponytails etc. different hair styles each day and you won't even notice it needs cut. I am in serious need of a haircut but something else always comes along and I leave it for another week.

in the meantime have you got anything you can e-bay or old games etc you can trade in or old cd's/books you could sell just to get you back on your feet till next month.

    good luck
If you wanted to save on haircuts, you could see if anyone in your family can cut your hair for you. There are several guides on the internet about cutting hair at home. Some free stuff on youtube, and a good DVD guide called Instant Barber that you can get off Amazon.

    Hope this helps

    I agree with you rosyw

Haircuts aren't necessary, paying Mum and learning to budget are necessary. Going out isn't necessary!

Have a hard month without using the credit card, get yourself straight, do a realistic budget and stick to it. You are in a very fortunate position to get yourself sorted before the problem really spirals out of control:mad:

Why not make the sandwiches the night before, stick them in a lunch box, into the fridge, then all you have to do is open the fridge door, take out the box and go to work, Simples :D:D

Come on, you can't make a sandwich in the morning because you're too tired?! Get to bed a bit earlier and you'll be fine!

There's a little bit of facing facts needs to be done here I think - buying bags and jumpers when you know you've got rent and bills to pay is not wise.

Stop making excuses to yourself and take actions to sort this out. You're young - learn how to manage your money properly and learn good financial habits before you need to take on the burden of rent, mortgages, utility bills, etc.

I think your Mum is right - perhaps you should give her the credit card until you can learn how to use one correctly. Doing so in the way you've suggested (taking cash out!) is only going to get you in an even bigger mess.
