Quick question regarding my gas/electricity statement
Could someone please clear this up for me.
I am with edf for my gas and electricity. When I get my bill's in I look at the bill summary. I just don't understand it. The current summary looks like this-
Bill Summary
Amount of last bill £24.04
Payments -£165.00
Charges this period (minus discounts) £181.88
Total for this period £40.92
Not exactly sure what the minus means ? Am I in credit or not ?

Presumably you pay monthly or something, not on receipt of bill.
What it means is that at the end of the previous bill you owed £24.04
Since then, you consumed another £181.88 worth
But in the meantime you've paid them £165
You now owe them £40.92 (but they are not asking for this ... it'll hopefully get paid off during the summer when you use less)
The 'minus discounts' presumably means that in working out what you have consumed this billing period, they have taken off any discounts you were entitled to to reflect the actual amount consumed. i.e. if they didn't take off the discounts, what you consumed would have cost more."Now to trolling as a concept. .... No you are in debit by £40.92.
You owed £24.04 after your last statement.
Your payments have been £165(3 x £55?) and your bill this quarter was £181.88. So you owe a further £16.88 on top of the £24.04 you owed making £40.920 -
As I understand it, you're not in credit and am in debit by £40.92.
Charges add up to £205.92, you've paid £165 so you're left with £40.92
If you pay by direct debit, you may well be in credit again when your next payment comes off.0 -
Thanks for clearing that up guys.0
