ScottishPower huge increase with DirectDebit
ScottishPower have increased my direct debit payment from £37 per month to a whopping £90 per month commencing December. Needless to say, I shall be on the phone to them Monday morning, but it got me wondering how many of their customers have noticed their new assessments and did they do anything about it? If so, with what result?

Mine was put up from £133 to £180!!!
(Last year it was £80 a month) - phoned them and they have put it to £140 as they say we are using more than we are paying for. Have cut back since then and been inputting dets onto online billing monthly to keep a close eye. So far bills have never exceeded £110 a month. Heating has been on a lot in the last few weeks, so may start noticing a difference soon.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

I keep my eye on the energy bills all the time. SP online has a facility where you can input your readings any time you like and you get an instant bill. I do mine every month from personal choice.
I was paying £50 per month but it was obvious that that would not cover the anticipated increased expenditure over winter. I simply rang scottish power and asked them to increase my payments to £65 a month. It was done instantly.

Kittie, Thank you for the information contained in your message. Cloud cuckoo land as far as I can remember is a very nice place with equally very nice people living there. Shame about having to move here though!
As my direct debit had been increased from £37 to £90, my posting was to enquire from other ScottishPower users how many of their them had noticed their new assessments and whether they had done anything about it? If so, with what result?
As I live on my own and I am at work all day, I thought my new assessment a bit top heavy, especially as I am extremely careful about my usage of electric and gas, so it is of particular interest to me to hear from others who are with ScottishPower.0 -
They tried to up mines from 30 a month to 67 for no reason at all, I'm £30 in "arrears" as I don't believe in being in credit with an energy supplier!! Besides, the leccy usage is the lowest its even been as I got gas in at the start of the year. Phoned and said put it back to what it was and they said OK. Waste of time!0

vellum £37 a month for your energy was an unsustainable bargain. Countless people have been caught by underpaying and then having swinging increases the following year
Try the onsite facility. It is very good. There is also a graph facility0 -
yep it is good the graph facility - helps keep an eye.
We run two gas combi boilers from our account - ours and the granny flat next door ( well it is my mum who stays there!), so considering we run 2 full time tvs, computers, cookers, my mum is i most of the time, and I only work 15 hours, so not sure if ours is that expensive all things considered. No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

We pay £68/month to SP and just had an assesment and a reduction to £55 because we are £30 in credit. These changes are done automatically by computer. I rang and said I wanted it put back to £68 and they did it. £30 credit is nothing when we are aproaching winter.
The only way to get your DD right is to do as I did, take meter readings for a year then work out the cost from the unit prices, divide the cost by 12 and that is your monthly payment. Then if you are a bit careful with your usage you could find you have a little credit at the end of the year. We are just on the 2nd aniversary of joining SP and £30 in credit means I wasn't far out with the calculations.0 -
Vellum, I am with British Gas for my electricity and they tried to change my payments from £35 up to £91 per month. I changed it back to £45 but I'm wondering if this will be enough now.....0

Yeh, they wanted to put ours up from £45 to £75, so I called them and got it down to £60. Then we switched supplier and we got an £85 refund!0
