Hi, im thinking about booking a little break between the 7th April to 11th April to New York. I heard that 'airlines' were planning strikes around this time. Does anyone know if it's true and if so who i shouldn't book with?
Thanks
Thanks

I don't know if it's true, but maybe you should book with an american airline (United, US Airways or American Airlines).0

Thats a good idea, thanks.
Yeah, they were saying that the workers try to plan stikes at the busiest time, which is easter..0 -
The trouble with using a non EU airline is they have no obligation to look after you should you become stranded.
Been there, done that, won't ever use C*ntinental again.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -

Easter is not until a couple of weeks after your dates so if a union deliberately targets Easter you might be OK.The trouble with using a non EU airline is they have no obligation to look after you should you become stranded.

If your journey starts in an EU country you are still covered by the rules (even for the return journey I think but stand to be corrected).0 -

of all airlines if there is going to be easter strikes you can bet that Tony Woodley and chronies have balloted BA crew, to try and screw more money out of company to increase already inflated pay rates.
slightest wiff of a strike avoid BA in my opinion0 -
ohh bum, you got me worried now. Already bought flight to LA on 20 April with BA, return is with AA.. I hope they will not strike:mad:Best wins ever:
2012: Holiday to LA for 2 adults +2 kids for 4 days
2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand0 -
Already confirmed that BA will run a 100% long haul service in the event of a strike, and 100% coverage of short haul destinations. Due to this it's extremely unlikely that a strike would be all as it has already proven ineffective.Legal team on standby0

Schools break up 8th April loads of places, even though not the actual Easter weekend this will still be an extremely busy weekend for families flying off for a fortnight's hol.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
The BA strike ballot closes on January 22nd so it will become clear whether there will be any more strikes then. The rumour in the market is that BA have been looking to charter aircraft for the second half of February, suggesting they expect any strike to be at Half Term. As others have said they will operate most if not all long haul flights, and everything from Gatwick and London City0
