Transfering from hard drive to other hard drive??

Hia all.

I have just ordered a new pc base unit, via the grabbit forum.
I would like to know what is the easiest way to transfer all my existing hard drive to my new one. Is it easy/expensive/reliable etc etc?

Thanks.

So transfer the data before passing it on!

I think the OP wanted to know how to do this!

Give DriveImage XML a try. I used a few days ago to upgrade my hard disk (i.e. copy old hd to new hd). Worked like a charm. Probably the best free disk transfer utility out there.

Don't forget to delete all the licensed software from the disk if you will be using any of the programs on the new base unit. (:D)

    :T

yep, whip the drive out of the old machine and into the new, transfer the data and then put it back where it belongs!

Or, depending on how much data is involved, transfer it onto a USB memory stick.

Or, set up a temporary home network and transfer the data that way.

    The choices are endless :D

    Very easily done?

My c: drive image on my laptop comes in at 1.5gb which fits easily on my 2gb usb stick.

All you need is something like Boot-It NG

    http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/bootitng.html

    and it's a done deal.

Likewise, transferring a 1.5gb file via home network and then letting Boot-It NG loose on it works equally well.

I suspect the OP actually wanted his data transferred as opposed to his entire hard drive but that wasn't entirely clear :p
