Nerja location

I've booked a villa for the family in a residential area of Nerja (Costs del Sol) and it was advertised as walking distance into Nerja. It's in Ladera del Mar, and on looking at Google maps etc, it's looking more than a gentle stroll! Anyone know this area and can advise on location, i.e., is it really a walk and if not how much is a taxi likely to set us back?

If you are going in the summer don't swim in the sea around the Balcon de Europa as there was a lot of raw sewage being pumped into it around there and walking from the Balcon along the beach path the smell were awful. The hotel was good though - same name as above.0
