Hi, does anyone have experience of the quality of the Ebuyer Extra Value laptops?
I presume they are a rebranded version of another cheapish laptop but as such are they still reliable? Not too bothered about build quality as long as they keep working ok.
Cheers

Sometimes cheaper things are better than more expensive things.
I hate people who go out their way to buy more expensive things when they can have un-branded version for cheaper.0 -

With laptops, this is not the case. You won't find a 2mm thick metal plate protecting the back of the screen on a cheapo laptop. Nor will you find the battery still holding full charge 2 years down the line.
Laptops are one thing where you get what you pay for. I've a pile of £1000+ Dell Latitudes and IBM THinkpad T and X series I've sold over the last couple of years which have been 3-5 years old and all working fine, all on original batteries with +2hrs and in very good nick.
In my workshop I've four large cardboard boxes full of Acers, Advents, Dell Inspirons, Tosh Satellites and other £300-£600 retail grade laptops being broken for spares due to "not economical to repair" faults all under 3 years old and the batteries long since dead. I sell tons of laptop keys for consumer grade, especially Samsung R series, Acer and Advent and virtually none for business grade.0 -

Most laptops are manufactured by a handful of companies anyway, then just rebranded by the resellers. I can't remember how many there is but last time I looked it barely made double figures.
Do a search for Compal (yep Compal, not Compaq) for example and you'll see they make laptops for dozens of major companies.0 -
Its worth a try as long as it has warranty. I have a cheap E system (not unbranded, but a small brand nontheless). It works great and is upgradable (with other cheap but good stuff).Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

Many E-System models are rebadged Acer/Asus.0 -

Exacatly, because their cheap(ish). More money does usually mean a better PC (or laptop) but you don't count out the cheap ones. Always check reviews.Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. surely the longevity of a laptop is fairly closely linked to the how the owner takes care of it. Most 300 quid laptops are given to children. I've seen laptops where the battery is one of the last remaining working items by the time the 2 years are up.
As much to do with the user as the machinery.
Also, if you spend 1000 quid on a laptop, you're more likely to take care of the thing..0
