Honeymoon in February - Suggestions Please

Hi all, myself and fiancee are marrying the summer. We intend on honeymooning next year in February as my mum is able to take a week to look after our son. (as much as i love him, i cant wait for a week alone).

We are looking for suggestions on where to go but obviously have some picky criteria.

We only have a week so travel time must be considered.
We'd like a sunny luxurious break (hot enough to sun bathe).
We'd like something a bit nicer than the canaries.
We want a honeymoon to remember.

as many ideas as possibly please.

Any help is much appreciated.

Okay, you might not think this is serious but it is, especially as this is a money saving forum.

The Legends Hotel in Mauritius where the Irish bride was murdered at the weekend with three employees being charged, is going to see a dramatic drop in the number of bookings over the next few weeks.

And they're going to pull out all the stops in terms of deals and service to get people back in.

It's a 5-star resort popular as a honeymoon destination and eventually guests and prices will return to normal levels.

Now is the time to chance your arm and offer some ridiculously low price,

Egypt? Possibly a nile cruise? That would be memorable but maybe wouldn't fit in with the sunbathing.

Otherwise for a shortish flight and same or similiar time zone Gambia looks great, and others have really enjoyed it.

    What about your budget?

I also need to go on honeymoon... we married last Aug, but our passports are with the Home Office to get a residence card for the UK.

After we get them back, I was thinking of going to Thailand again, or Vietnam or the Carribean.

Maybe a trip to Spain for a few days as well.

Hi, in that we visit the canaries often and as much as it is a nice getaway i would like a memorable honeymoon.

I find large parts of the canaries to be near identical.
  • Thanks for all of the responses so far, ill look into the dubai links and also the mauritius hotel.

How about a cruise off the coast of somalia, it will be hot and a honeymoon to remember!

I was going to say Dubai, go for the most expensive hotel you can afford! (NB NOT the Sheraton Creek, which from experience was a huge let down).

Forget Dubai, but consider Oman - far more class.
