Theatre trip might be a good idea. I usually take my children to the west yorkshire playhouse where they do an xmas show for under eights and one for older children. (It's the Wizard of Oz this year.) You might not be anywhere near me, but any theatre that does two shows like that should guarantee you get something age appropriate for your son if you think he is too grown up for a traditional panto.
I just looked on the WYP website and they do have an evening performance on boxing day so hopefully there would be a performance of something near you. I think that could be really good fun especially if you treat him to all the trimmings (interval icecreams, drinks etc).0 -
I agree.......panto! My youngests birthday is on 3rd Jan and no one wants to party then as still getting over New Year and a lot of peeps back to work. I am going to organise a 'family night' for his birthday every year now:) This year we are going to go and see Aladdin. I am going to keep up this tradition of going to a panto every year for his birthday. It will be HIS birthday treat:)The world is full of Pink Fluffy Clouds......you just need to open your eyes to see them:)

Does he like football? There are always matches on Boxing day, could you get tickets for a match?

Thanks for the ideas guys I never thought of any of those :T We have a problem with him sitting still for any length of time (he's in a spinal brace 24/7) What are the seats like at the footie and the theatre?? Might get round it by taking a pillow (for him of course
) also my DS3 is autistic, lots of sensory probs so neither would be great for him unfortunately was ideally thinking of something for us all to go to but as usual I'm stumped! Might have to get Nan to have no3...oh I'm more confused now :rotfl: thanks for the suggestions though

Why don't you try phoning the theatre and see what sort of seats they could recommend for your son? I know I can find it a bit uncomfortable at times but if you explained to them about him needing a pillow, they might have something to help you out:) and also might let you backstage or something to meet the cast seeing as it is his birthday:)
You could even do the same with the football. The world is full of Pink Fluffy Clouds......you just need to open your eyes to see them:)

Now you have me thinking!!!!! Why not organise a wee family meal for you all....I'm sure that eating places are open then, I know all the shops are! Laminate HAPPY BIRTHDAY 'his name' onto paper and then stick them on the lamposts all the way down to the meal:) He will probably be mortified but hey that is why we are parents;-)The world is full of Pink Fluffy Clouds......you just need to open your eyes to see them:)

LOL he's mortified just by the fact we ARE his parents..:rotfl:
I'll have a chat with Dad now we have some ideas see what he thinks we can get away with. It's so hard with the two of them being so different let alone the eldest who's a typical teenager and won't even go out in public with us :rolleyes:0
