Priority Pass Lounges

Hi Everyone,
I think I know the answer to my question but here goes anyway.

We're off to New York next month and fly BA from Terminal 5, I've had a look at the Priority Pass website and there doesn't appear to be a lounge we can access at Terminal 5, does anyone know if this is the case?

We're flying PE on BA so can't use their Club lounges, but we've kind of got used to being able to access lounges via Priority Pass and we'll miss it as the peace & quiet away from the shops etc is heaven before boarding a flight!!!

Thanks in anticipation.

As pointed out above there are only BA lounges in T5, however as far as terminals go T5 isn't a bad place to relax before a flight.

There are a couple of options - do you hold any BA miles ? For 25k per person you could upgrade to Business/Club (or 12.5k per sector per person) - of course assuming there is availability on your flight.

Alternatively log into BA.com and check your flight on MMB and click the 'upgrade with cash' button to see what the current offer is to upgrade your flight to Business/Club. People have been reporting upgrades for as little as £400 per person per sector.

    Hi Malkie76,

Many thanks for suggesting options, unfortunately, I've just looked on MMB and found the following when I clicked on upgrade my booking:
'Change is not allowed as this is a complete Open Jaw booking'
I'm not sure what an Open Jaw booking is, but hubby made the booking 2 days ago in the BA sale, I guess that's the issue....
I can't remember if I hold BA miles, we flew to Barbados return last August but I really can't remember if I opened an account, if I didn't, can I open one now and add the miles retrospectively? I know it won't be enough for an upgrade but if I then add the NY ones, and we fly to Cancun in July on BA (in Clubworld), the miles will add up so eventually I might have enough for an upgrade.
    Thanks again,

  • No you can't open an account now and add miles from previous flights

An Open Jaw is when you fly to A and fly back from B (e. fly to New York and then back from Boston). I'm not sure why that would prevent you upgrading online.

As was said earlier, T5 is an excellent terminal (now the teething problems have been fixed) with some very good bars and restaurants so I wouldn't worry too much about not having lounge access. If you were flying from T3 then I would understand the concern.

You currently can't make changes to open-jaw bookings online, it's an issue with BA.com. Telephone the sales line and ask there, remember to query any telephone booking fees as these shouldn't be charged because you cannot make your changes online.

Yes you can, but only for flights upto 6months ago. If you still have the booking reference and you telephone BA they may be able to add the miles retrospectively. Alternatively you can add them using 'claim missing miles' on the BA website.

You may wish to consider opening a 'household account' which allows you to pool miles from everyone who stays at the same address.
I know it won't be enough for an upgrade but if I then add the NY ones, and we fly to Cancun in July on BA (in Clubworld), the miles will add up so eventually I might have enough for an upgrade.

Remember you can also buy BA miles, up to 24k per person per year. Not exactly a great deal, but if you need 25k for an entire return upgrade to Club it could work for you (assuming there is availability).

Also the BA Amex usually has a sign up bonus, and of course you trigger a 2-4-1 when you spend £20k or £10k depending on the card you hold.

Taxes and fees are still payable :)
