PSU Advice plz

Hi guys

I got an old desktop PC I use upstairs for downloading emails letting the missus play Sims etc.

Turned it on tonight and it turned off within 20 seconds so I waited a little while and turned it on again using the switch at the back and it started to boot fine then I noticed a small puff of what looked like smoke out of the PSU so I shut it down immediately - could also smell burning.

Anyway need some newbie advice about PSU and which one to get (cheap as chips pls).

My PC is a Dell P3 933 and it originally had a Dell PSU (150w - I think) but I replaced this about a year ago with a mates 300w ATX one and it's been working fine upto now.

This was called a Power Master - 31 (KC-300).

I'm gonna look for a new 300w min one - can anyone recommend one pls (needs single fan at back) and are there any limits on what power - ie can I only go up to 400w etc

Thanks

WJUK
