    I would indeed do that, as I do for all my own CC's. But I advised in the beginning he not use the card unless CCA protection was needed for the purchase, and so far this is its only use in years.

    We learn from our mistakes (at least some of us do).

    The way to think of it is that purchases always attract interest, but this is cancelled (or simply not applied) if the balance is paid in full. During an introductory offer, interest is still calculated, but at 0%. So this "0%" is different from the 56-day thing.

    Eg promotion: 0% until end of June, then 20%. Statement date June 15th, payable by July 10th.

    If you pay in total by July 10th - no interest is applied. If you part pay, then the next statement will show interest for each purchase from when the purchase is made until payment is made. You will still get your 0% until the end of June, but interest will run at 20% from 1st July.
