Viagogo - *Warning*

Hi All

I just wanted to share my Mum's recent experiences with Viagogo which will hopefully serve as a warning to others or perhaps prompt a response from Viagogo or perhaps clarification, sharing of similar experiences or advice from somebody else.

In short, I created a Viagogo account for my mum and listed some tickets that she had spare. A potential buyer made an offer for these tickets but my Mum did not confirm in time (it was over New Year) and Viagogo then charged her £10 cancellation fee . This cancellation fee is not detailed in any of the terms and conditions and is only communicated when an email is sent to remind you to confirm the sale.

She has had numerous communications with Viagogo via email and on the phone and the £10 charge still stands .

Now, two more pairs of tickets sold for less than the asking price. I have looked through the listing and cannot find anywhere that she said she would accept less than a certain amount. Viagogo have already confirmed that a £10 cancellation fee will be charged if these sales are not confirmed :(.

I have removed all my Mum's listings from Viagogo and suggested that she call them to request a final refund and then go to her credit card company if she has no joy - any other ideas please?

Personally I have removed the tickets that I had listed with Viagogo and will not be using them again. I am little concerned that I have sold and confirmed one pair and wonder whether we can trust Viagogo for the money if I send the tickets.

My advice to others would be to avoid Viagogo but any other thoughts / ideas appreciated

Ian

You will definitely get the money if you send the tickets. They are a reputable company that has been going for a number of years. I've used them in the past to buy and sell tickets and know many people that currently work there.

What may happen is that they may deduct the £10 from your sale to cover the 'other' loss where you didn't confirm. Its a small price to pay to make sure you get paid but paid you will be.
  • Thanks for the reassurance. The other loss is on my Mum's account so they have now charged her credit card 3 x £10 for three failures to confirm. One was accidental due to being over the New Year and the other two because the tickets were sold for less than the price she wanted. This is not mentioned in the terms and conditions and for the last two confirmations she was only given one day to confirm a sale price that was less than she was asking.

For me this is sufficient evidence to stop using Viagogo because I don't think it is a reasonable way for a "reputable" company to act.

Perhaps you could pop down to the Consumer Rights forum with a copy/paste of the terms and conditions, see what people there suggest? It certainly sounds fishy, selling your tickets for less than your agreed price, then penalising and charging your card because you didn't accept a low offer, so you lose out either way.
  • tickets were sold for less than the price she wantedQUOTE]

I am confused, how did they get sold for a price that she didn't set. When listing YOU set the price you want to sell for?

    Thanks Jimmy

I know I thought it was odd because when we listed them I seemed to remember putting a fixed price. I edited the listings to check whether there was a setting that offers for less could be made and there was not.

To confirm - Viagogo DID sell the tickets for less than the price they were listed at and then did charge £10 when my Mum did not confirm.
