Hi
Hope I've posted this in the right forum - technically it's more a 'I wanna' type thread so I thought of putting it in the shopping sectino but it really needs people with a certain expertise so I'm hoping you may be able to help........
My grandmother has had a couple of strokes in the last year or so and has had to move into a residential home. Her right hand is still very week so she struggles to do lots of the things she used to e.g. reading - she can't easily hold a book for long, knitting, etc. She has a tv in her room but struggles with the controls for it and can't watch it in bed because she can't see it from there. So when she goes to bed - which can be quite early if the nurses put her early on in the rota for going to bed - , she has nothing to do - she can't read in bed either due to poor eyesight and an inability to hold books for very long.
I'd like to buy her a radio that I could pretune to major stations - probably Radio 4, radio 5 , bbc local radio etc but need something that is VERY easy to use. Big buttons, etc. I don't mind whether it is DAB or not - altho I suppose Radio 7 would be quite good with all the drama serials etc.
Does anyone have any ideas on what would be a good option or could point me in the right direction for getting some advice?
Thanks in advance

See I knew I'd come to the right place - why didn't I think of looking there?
She'd probably mislay that little palm size one though - it's a similar size to her phone and she's always losing that ;-)
will have a look and see if I can see anything similar but bigger.0 -
Is that size too big for it to go around her neck? So it's more like a pendant type thing.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

what an excellent idea - thanks sh1305 that's opened up a whole host of possibilities for me / her!0

Just wanted to say that my dab radio, although great, just runs away with batteries. Perhaps a mains run radio may suit better.0

also we bought a DAB radio for my dad, and because it took a while to 'warm up' he'd start fiddling with the tuning because he didn't think it was working!Signature removed for peace of mind0
