Cos I'm a newbie on an established thread. But you guys are welcoming so i am chuffed. Mr Z is a bit imtimidating... but that is cos i am a bit thick sometimes.

You're not thick, he just uses big words sometimes. He says he's not a lecturer but I'm not so sure (Maybe he's the Stig!) - our lecturers use words like Durkheimian Hegemony and Contextual Milleu. I thought the last one was a dessert with meringue in it, bit like Eton Mess but more biscuity.

You will be fine once you are through the to the three quarter point Butti:D

I know how you feel though, i hate essay writing and am very good at procrastinating when i have to.

My lecturer used to use words like that as well...They then wonder why folk get a headache afterwards.:rotfl::rotfl: Durkheim- is that the one associated with suicide? Or am i mistaking it?:o

Durkheimian Hegemony is something about keeping things the same, the power in the same hands I think. The system decides your fate not you. A bit like saying to people, lets have a localism bill so you can decide local things and then saying to them but I'm deciding you're going to have nuclear waste dumped round the corner!

Report (not essay!) is up to 2000 words, only another 1000 left and i have a structure. I also have to hand this in tomorrow AND do a presentation so have to be ready but not have a late night. Could be tricky!

Ooooh you poor thing! If stuck ask Firewalker for help. (She might be one of your teachers though or at your univ I dont think so. I think i knew someone who did your course in 1992).

We did a tiny bit on Durkheim as part of methodology but he did nothing for me. I liked Hegel and Keynes, Popper was interesting too but i was 20at the time. Big hug. Hope you are drinking lots of tea and eating some cake too.
