Sometimes my computer has a habit of deleting or forgetting all the log ins & passwords for websites I visit, which is to say the least very annoying.
For some reason the auto-complete doesn't work when I log back in either
Anyone know why it does it?

you might wanna upgrade to version 8 for security/ personally I'd never use IE and migrate to FF/Opera or even Chrome //BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Not a good idea storing passwords in your browser. It makes them far too vulnerable to being stolen.
People have had many different accounts, such as email and Paypal grab for fraud purposes and money stolen because people stored their passwords in their browser.
I don't use browser password store any more, instead I use a secure password manager such as Keepass.
I don't understand why people use IE, it gets worse and worse with every generation.0 -

I used to use xmarks to sync passwords but that uses Chrome's inbuilt password store which isn't that great.0 -

OK, thanks. I wasn't aware of this....I'm a bit of computer novice0 -

They only work with browsers as well, they don't work with any other software while a program such as Keepass can work with anything.
I do keep a backup in other places, such as memory cards just in case my PC ever got stolen.0 -

One of the least problems is they could totally disappear one day and your passwords would be gone unless you have a backup. I would never use them.

However it is a trade-off between security and usability (as it always is). With Keepass you need to copy your username and password to the clipboard and then paste it into the browser (or use the autotype function). With lastpass it is all automated.
On a sidenote Keepass is more secure when using autotype rather than copying and pasting passwords. When you copy a password it can be viewed in the clipbaord, whereas when using autotype it is less likely to be intercepted by keyloggers (see here).0 -

Well, in my case I need to logon to systems for work, and the powers that be wrote them such that they only run on IE. So I'm stuck with it for work.
For personal browsing, I use Chrome at the moment.0
