refunds following snow

My flight was cancelled from JFK to Heathrow on 19th Dec. We was rebooked onto next available flight 22nd Dec. This resulted in 3 extra nights accomodation and spending money. I have emailed KLM/Delta asking about a refund/compensation. KLM have asked me to send on details via their website which you cant do and tells me to phone customer services. No one answers customer service help line and tells me to contact via the web page. Anyone else having similar probs or does anyone have an address or fax number,

Having similar problems with virgin for the JFK to heathrow on 18th dec finally today got email from customer services who want all the relevant receipts and they will consider some help. Keep trying perhaps the travel agent could get you a fax number that's what I did.

On the basis it was the direct flight from JFK to London it will have been on Delta, the rules of EU261 don't apply at all. Unless you have anything in writing from the airport confirming they will look after you, they won't offer anything. This was their policy during the ash crisis as well. Check your insurance policy to see if you have any cover. Moneysaving by using non EU airlines can cost a lot more when things go wrong
  • it was flight no KL 8092 although we travelled with their sister airline Delta. An e mail from KLM says they will help with reimbursing hotel fees etc. However looking at other threads looks like I have just been sent standard email from KLM. Not holding out much hope
