Hoping that when I start looking after the pennies, and the pounds will take care of them selves :j
  • How about a huge guitar sized box with an "air guitar" inside ;)

Or how about a cd with air guitar music on (sorry I can't think of the name but I know they are about as my son has one)

The stuff i like to have for my guitars are sets of strings (check which gauge he uses 1st..normally 9-10 for electric, 10-12 acoustic). picks are a good idea. Theres some stuff called "fast-fret" which you put on your guitar strings to help keep them in good condition...worked great for me until my dog chewed it. guitar pedals are great..i like to use the boss range. cry baby wah is good (£90) but chorus and distortion pedals are a good idea. strap locks are a must. what about getting him a bottle neck and a slide guitar for beginners book. Or a nice capo

  • As another avid guitarist, one thing that is on my list this year is this guitar stand http://www.dv247.com/invt/34655/ they are great.

I would also echo rygons sentiment about the capo...a guitarist can never have too many capos! A really great and neat little capo is the recent 'g7th' capo. Its not cheap, retailing in the shops at £24.99, but you can pick them up on Ebay for £18.99 delivered.

I would tend to steer clear of the strings unless you really know what your after...personal preference varies alot on these from gauge to gauge and maker to maker. People have bought me strings before that are just sitting in a drawer because I just can't use them. If you do go for strings, I can highly recommend John Pearse Phosphor Bronze Lights for acoustic guitars...nothing better imnsho! ;)

Another good place to check out for ideas is https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk
