My laptop lock up when i try to use my DVD drive any thoughts?

All cds and dvd's havent got any cdroms to hand to try. From what i can gather using task manger something is causing 100% cpu usage when disk inserted. No strange noise from dvd drive. Tried reinstalling the dvd drive drivers.0

Uninstall cd/dvd recording software and try and update drivers.
Take a look in the event viewer and see if that gives any clues.0 -
In log viewer only possible thing is WMI Event ID 10.0
